London, as most of you know, is my favorite city — especially for a short trip. The more I visit, the more it feels like home… like I was meant to live there. And while I still hope & plan, I’m really working on showing my kids how fun and fabulous it is to stay like you’re a local and not demand the pace of a typical “family vacation”. We just do things our own way, at a slower pace… with the expectation that we’ll come back again and again and each time we’ll visit one more museum or restaurant and not try to hit everything one trip.
This summers travels were just that—Scotland and London with a different lens. This was our first trip without a stroller ( sorry to sweet Charlotte, our four year old, who was not up for the challenge… and we opted to leave her home since we knew our first leg of the journey to Scotland (more on that next week) would require a lot of walking and driving in the car. We came to London with the plan to knock a few things of the tourist list but mostly just to enjoy each others company in a city we love.
London, to me, is the perfect destination for a low-key teen friendly vacation where you can get out and adventure but also find some time to “chill” - an important balance to keep for the tweens and teens. We’ve taken our kids to London five times or so and it felt so good to be able to be walk and wander so much easier, we averaged 15,000 steps a day!
